Norm Rumney started Huronia Auto Glass in 1983. His son Adam Rumney runs it today, from the same shop at 821 Vinden Street in Midland.
Huronia Auto Glass is the area's vehicle glass repair and installation specialist. Whether it is a chipped or cracked windshield, a broken side window or a custom boat installation, the shop's qualified staff can solve it. In addition to glass, the shop specializes in vehicle accessory sales and installation: caps and covers, steps, hitches, racks, lifts, wheels, plows and 12-volt work, fitted in-house by the same people who sell them.
The work has not changed much in forty years, even as the glass has. A windshield used to be glass and a seal. On a lot of vehicles now it is also a mounting point for the cameras and sensors that drive lane-keep assist and automatic emergency braking, which changes what a replacement involves.
What has stayed the same is how the shop runs. You are told what the job needs before it starts, and what it will cost before you agree to it.
